SERAMBI (SEmarak RAMadhan di BRIsbane)
SERAMBI is a series of IISB activities to welcome the holy month of Ramadhan which is held regularly every year. Apart from aiming to increase faith, piety and religious knowledge, this activity is also a means of strengthening connections and bonding among fellow Indonesians. The aim of this activity is the Indonesian Muslim community in Brisbane in particular and the Indonesian community in Queensland in general.
SERAMBI 2024 was organised in several events as follows.

Salaam BBQ and Tarhiib Ramadhan
The Ramadhan event was started with Salaam BBQ and Tarhiib Ramadhan. As per tradition, IISB organized one BBQ event to welcome new students and residents in South East Queensland. The event was held one week before Ramadhan.

IISB facilitated BBQ in the park and invited one local religious scholar to give talk to the participants, as well as fun games for children. The event will also be used to get to know IISB and Indonesian community in Queensland.

Weekly Grand Ifthar and Islamic Lecture (Pengajian)
Iftar has been one of IISB’s traditions for many years. These community gathering events consist of Islamic lectures and breaking the fasts followed by congregational Maghrib prayer. IISB collaborated with community partners in organizing this event, particularly Indonesian Students’ Associations in each University. In addition to ifthar in these places, IISB also held some joint ifthaar with Indonesian communities and organizations in Queensland. These events took place on the weekend (every Saturday) and had attracted around 150-400 participants in each day of weekend.

Tarawih Keliling
IISB facilitated Indonesian community member(s) who send request to hold shalat tarawih at the residence to organise Tarawih Keliling, as known as Tarling. As per tradition in Indonesian community, the Tarawih Keliling events started by community ifthar, and it is followed by Maghrib and Isya Prayers, short lecture (Kultum), and Tarawih. IISB invited one ustadz/religious scholar to lead the Tarawih and give small lecture (Kultum), and assist with the organization of event including publications.

It is estimated that there will be around 4-8 Tarawih Keliling event during Ramadhan, spread across communities in St Lucia, Kelvin Grove, Sunnybank, Robertson, Logan City, and North of Brisbane. IISB also opened opportunities for community ifthar with groups in Brisbane,
